Russia a reliable partner for Europe
Wintershall Dea relies on strategic partnerships that, owing to their long-term character, form an important basis for success. The partnership with Russia is a perfect example.
Strategic partnerships form an important basis for the success of Wintershall Dea. We enjoy an excellent reputation as a partner in our core regions. Wintershall Dea has maintained close and successful relations with Gazprom and LUKOIL for over 25 years. Initially in joint natural gas trading and the construction of natural gas pipelines and storage facilities with Gazprom, later in E&P projects. We are successfully working shoulder to shoulder with RITEK, a subsidiary of LUKOIL, in the Volgodeminoil joint venture. It is the longest operating joint venture between a Russian and Western European partner in the E&P sector. We are proud of these long-standing partnerships ‒ and are doing everything we can to continue them just as successfully in the future.
The “Scientific and Technical Cooperation” (STC) sets standards in Russian-German relations: Since 1992, the joint project between Gazprom, the world’s largest gas producing company, and Wintershall Dea has been promoting the exchange of experience and know-how between the two companies. This effective collaboration and the knowledge gained have been actively applied in the development of the Yuzhno-Russkoye field and the Achimov Formation in the Urengoy field as well as in the operation of underground gas storage facilities in Russia and Europe and in the Nord Stream pipeline project.
Openness, trust and the exchange of experience and knowledge form the basis of the partnership between Gazprom and Wintershall Dea. The results of more than 25 years of joint work can be seen in our pioneering Achimgaz and Severneftegazprom projects. These are prime examples of effective and mutually beneficial cooperation; they have opened up opportunities for further development. Today we have a wide range of advanced solutions in the fields of environmental protection and technology. Wintershall Dea and Gazprom are making a lot of efforts to use energy as efficiently as possible in their joint projects. This enables us to reduce energy costs and protect the environment at the same time. As part of our comprehensive energy management, we constantly analyse, review and improve our performance in terms of energy efficiency.
Wintershall Dea has been supporting the successful advanced training programme for Gazprom managers for more than 25 years, whose guiding principle is the creation of synergy effects. Since the programme was implemented, more than 6,000 specialists and managers have taken part in more than 400 advanced training measures concerned with professional training and human resources development.
