Wintershall Dea joins the "Initiative on a Common Economic Space between Lisbon and Vladivostok"
Wintershall Dea, Europe’s largest independent gas and oil producer, is joining the "Initiative on a Common Economic Space between Lisbon and Vladivostok", which is committed to intensifying cooperation between the countries of the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). A memorandum to this effect was signed in Berlin on 28 June by a working group from the initiative.
Members of the initiative advocate simplifying customs procedures and technical regulations as well as visa facilitation. Wintershall Dea expects that the economic integration of Russia and Europe will support the further development of a unified energy complex whose key element is a system of direct, uninterrupted energy supplies from the source to the consumer, and over whose entire length European and Russian companies can work together with uniform standards.
The initiative was officially launched in 2017 with the support of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce Abroad and the German-Russian Forum and is now supported by over 60 well-known German companies, including Siemens, Knauf, Knorr Bremse, Metro AG, Robert Bosch and the Schneider Group.
